INNOVATION IN SUSTAINABILITY

Worthen's R&D teams are continually evaluating opportunities to develop greener products. This includes moving from solvent to waterbased products, incorporating recycled or biobased content, and designing our products to facilitate the recyclability of the end product or to decrease the energy needed by our customers to process them in their own manufacturing operations. We offer many products that are certified to various standards including: Oeko-Tex 100, Green Guard Gold, bluesign, and the Global Recycled Standard.

We are always eager to work with customers on projects to develop more sustainable products for their specific markets.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY

Worthen Industries is a strong advocate for a clean energy economy, and we are committed to reducing the carbon emissions from our manufacturing operations and our products. We have solar arrays on 3 of our 5 manufacturing facilities, totaling more than 1.8 MW of generating capacity; and we have signed on to participate in Consumers Energys Business Renewable Energy Program which supports the construction of a new solar facility in Michigan.

Our plants consider energy efficiency for all equipment and lighting upgrades, and regularly review opportunities to reduce waste. Furthermore, Worthens vehicle fleet contains only hybrid vehicles and/or vehicles that achieve >40mpg.

Worthen lends our voice with those of other companies in support of clean energy policy. We are signatories to the NH Clean Energy Principles and members of Ceres Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy (BICEP) network and Clean Energy NH.

POLICIES AND PERFORMANCE

We have earned a number of environmental and quality certifications and been recognized for environmental practices and performance.

Worthen is committed to operating in a way that minimizes our environmental impact. Our sustainability strategy is built upon the foundation of our environmental policy and ISO 14001 certified environmental management system that help ensure our regulatory compliance and also support our efforts to go beyond compliance including activities to understand and address our contribution to climate change.

Our Quality Policy and ISO 9001 certified quality management system guide our pledge to satisfy the needs and expectations of our customers by consistently meeting or exceeding their specific requirements and continually seeking ways to improve.

Worthen's Responsible Manufacturing Policy outlines our commitment to maintaining socially responsible and safe work practices for the benefit of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate.

Our Nashua North facility has been a bluesign System Partner since 2016. Bluesign is a comprehensive European-based product stewardship and environmental sustainability certification for textile and allied industries.

Our plant in Richmond, Virginia has achieved the highest level in the Virginia Environmental Excellence Program which recognizes facilities that go above and beyond legal requirements and also received an honorable mention at the Governors 2023 Environmental Excellence Awards for their sustainability efforts. Our Richmond facility was also recognized in 2023 for 12 years of 100% compliance by the Virginia Water Environment Association.

Our Grand Rapids and both Nashua, NH facilities are certified to the Global Recycled Standard which is given to facilities that meet the standards social and environmental requirements and are also able to prove traceability of recycled material contained in specific products.

Worthen has been recognized as a 2018 NH Energy Week Business Champion and by the NH Businesses for Social Responsibility with the 2023 Climate and Energy Sustainability Award.
